ICT Ministry Supports Private Sector Empowerment and Commercialization of Domestic Products

The Minister of Communication and Information Technologies, speaking at the ICT’s Technical Council meeting, underscored supporting activities directed at empowerment of private sector and the commercialization of domestic products.

According to Public Relations Center, the ICT’s Technical Council meeting began with presentation of the ICT Research & Training Institute’s activity report regarding software platforms. In this session, by the order of ICT Minister, it was decided that supporting activities directed at private sector empowerment and domestic products’ commercialization, will be put in ICT’s agenda.

In the Research Institute’s report, various activities were mentioned, directed at the development of Cloud OS and its free distribution, and it was pointed out that currently three private companies were actively participating for commercial distribution of the products and services in this field, all within the framework of the Letters of Agreement signed between the parties involved.

It should be mentioned that in this meeting session, a report was presented regarding Research Institute’s Infrastructure Cloud project (xaas.ir), which become operational almost 5 months ago and has been providing its services to research projects supported by the Research Institute ever since. This service has been designed utilizing domestic technologies and products in Research Institute, and it is based on ‘opensatck’ international project which delivers its services in ‘IaaS’ and ‘PaaS’ layers.

Based on this report, other activities of the Research Institute in this field include, providing online management services, participatory software development, supporting professional societies such as ‘occcc.ir’, and publishing specialized topics and articles.

At the conclusion of this meeting, it was decided that the Research Institute will announce its supportive incentives for domestic products, private companies active in the field of operation systems, and software platforms, providing them for qualified companies.
