According to ICT’s Public Relation, this project more than doubles the existing local IP broadband capacity in the transport sector (from 650 thousand E1 to 1350 thousand E1).
The project’s accomplishments include developing the increasing communication capacity of Iran up to 2.6 times the existing capacity, providing the required broadband for operators to implement 3G and 4G services, provision of the necessary infrastructure for developing the National Information Network of Iran in an effective and practical manner, and economic income generation by transforming Iran into a regional communication hub.
On the other hand, data transit from Iranian route which is going to replace the Suez channel emergency transport route is another accomplishment of ‘Talash’ project which increases transit broadband from 365 GB/s to 575 GB/s.
Also Iran’s new position as a safe and high quality route is not only going to generate billions of dollars of income per year, it will also affect Iran’s strategic position and the chance of becoming a communication hub in the region.
The overall scope of Talash project operations cover the equipping and supporting of 128 stations throughout the country based on 30000 km’s of optic-fiber cable network spread over 31 provinces.
Other highlights of Talash project include utilization of domestic capabilities in project implementation, power and fiber-optic facilities, project crashing in a 100 day interval, and project implementation in an active and operational network without any negative effect or interference in the communication network.
To summarize, with the successful implementation of this project, the 11th government had the opportunity to expand the nation’s communication capacity in the 2014-2015 period more than all the previous capacity building efforts of all the past years, thus being able to provide part of the requirements of the 5th development plan up to 7.1 TB/s.
Talash project, in spite of its huge dimensions, was implemented in the shortest possible period, with a cost of about 21 Trillion Rials.
Statistics show that at the onset of the government of ‘wisdom and hope’ the domestic IP broadband capacity in the transport section was 450 thousand E1, increasing to 650 thousand E1 by the second quarter of 2014, and reaching 1350 thousand E1 at the first quarter of 2015.
