Iran, Russia Sign Major Economic Deals

In the meeting between the First Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation and the Minister of Communication and Information Technology of the I.R. of Iran, two cooperation agreements were signed by the parties.

According to ICT’s Public Relation center, after the signing ceremony and in presence of reporters, Dr. Vaezi stated that: “Fortunately, within the framework of the Joint Economic Commission, we have had very positive negotiations covering various political, security, regional, international, scientific, cultural, and especially economic topics, with our Russian guests.”

He referred to the visit of Vladimir Putin to Tehran, expressing that: “This trip opened a new chapter in our bilateral relations.”

Dr. Vaezi referred to the presence of a high-ranking Russian delegation in Iran, and reported of discussions regarding banking relations, and state and banking credit lines, adding that: “During the negotiations of the past few days, we were able to go over and evaluate the outcomes of the previous visits, and also the cooperation in industry sector and the export of agricultural products; and considering the high potentials present in both countries, we expect our trade volume and relations to multiply.”

The Minister of Communication and Information Technology referred to the signing of two highly important economic cooperation documents, adding that: “An agreement to support and promote joint investment efforts between Iran and Russia’s governments is a key document for both parties, and it creates a framework where investors can invest in both countries and be supported by both governments.”

Dr. Vaezi described the second document as a facilitator for exporting agricultural products to Russia and vice versa, including that: “It is our expectation that the necessary environment and opportunity for expanding cooperation levels are already provided for, and following this visit, we shall witness further growth and expansion in this direction.”
