According to ICT Ministry’s PR department, in this meeting, Dr. Vaezi recounted the existing extensive opportunities for cooperation between private and public sectors of the two countries and also meetings between Iranian firms with their Korean counterparts and corporations, emphasizing on the increasing level of cooperation between Iran and Korea.
He also mentioned past cooperation and agreements between the two countries, stating that: “The current fast pace of technology growth and development leaves us no choice but to define and designate a new framework for our past cooperation opportunities.”
The ICT Minister continued by expressing that: “Our emphasis is that the contents of these agreements should be implemented and additionally, the Korean government’s support of the Korean corporations in the fields of ICT, IT, and space and satellite cooperation can have a positive impact on the success of the ongoing negotiations.”
Stating that Iranian firms are ready to participate with all Korean companies, he added: “It is our belief that our countries can complete each other, by utilizing their resources.”
Dr. Vaezi asserted that: “Iran has the potential for private sector investment in the field of ICT, and its young and specialized labor force in new technology areas can have a great impact on regional markets.”
The Korean Science Minister, while referring to Korean President’s visit to Iran in May, announced that: “South Korea is ready to follow up on the directions of the Presidents of the two countries for cooperation in various sectors, especially in communication and telecommunication fields.”
He included that: “Without doubt, through determination and the existing bilateral atmosphere, the Korean companies have already assessed Iran as a reliable and trustworthy partner, and we can further expand our collaborations in this direction.”
The Korean Science Minister continued by referring to the articles of the agreement documents signed by both parties, stating that: “A follow-up mechanism for the agreements can benefit the acceleration of the affairs by regularly holding specialized working committees and providing daily reports to the ministers.”
He concluded by saying: “The first session of this specialized workgroup will be held by the end of September in Iran.”
It should be mentioned that at the end of this meeting, the Ministers signed a joint cooperation agreement deal in the fields of communication, telecom, and post services. In the same session a cooperation agreement was also signed between Samsung Electronics and the ICT Research Institute by the related officials.
