PR of the Ministry of ICT- Dr. Reza Taghipour in the opening ceremony of 70 communication projects and with the president presence said:" ICT share of GDP was about eight thousand and one hundred billion Toman in 88 (solar year) that the government's share of this amount was only 800 billion Toman and the rest was provided by the private sector".
"Currently, three main operators provide fixed and mobile services to the applicants and the third operator will supply its SIM card to the market till this year's Fajr decade", he added.
Minister of ICT pointed that, in addition, six mobile operators, 12 in the field of telecommunications satellite, 11 operators in the broadband sector and 121 operators on the major sale of bandwidth are active in the country.
"Meanwhile, ICT services are provided by over one thousand and 480 private companies for internet services, five thousand and 108 urban ICT offices and nearly 10 thousand rural ICT Offices", he continued.
Dr. Reza Taghipour emphasized: "The extent of telecommunication area which has been run by people is more than what by government, while this ratio has been vice versa at the beginning of the ninth cabinet".
Minister of ICT by referring to the national telecom indicators said:" The penetration rate of fixed line has been reached to more than 100 percent and this capacity can be increased but it has been reached saturation due to the lack of market".
He also expressed that penetration rate of mobile phone has been reached to more than 27 percent in the country and emphasized: only 8 million and 500 thousand SIM cards has been transferred before ninth cabinet but it has 6/5 equal of growth by the efforts made during the past five years.
He pointed to providing fixed phone to 97 percent of villages which have over 100 residents and continued: "Rural ICT offices has been established in 300 villages at the beginning of the ninth cabinet that this number has been increased to more than 10 thousand and provide the needed services online for the villagers".
Dr. Reza Taghipour stated that the project which are supposed to be operated today are in the field of communication data development and continued that the goals of implementing the prepared projects include: Providing the required conditions to use new technologies in the villages in order to develop e- government services and modern agriculture, completing the roads coverage and developing bandwidth to develop value added services as well as promoting national efficiency.
"Exploitation of these projects is for achieving to the "justice extension" slogans in all parts of the country and the migration will take place reverse order", he added.
He noted: "Development of these networks provides the informing infrastructure in science and technology areas around the world for scholars and scientific and research centers".
Minister of ICT by referring to the projects details in the annual government week and said the projects that will be inaugurated in this section are including: 840 transceiver sites in rural areas, 690 Kms of fiber optic in impassable parts, 382 rural ICT offices, 165 projects in the field of data communication networks and 215 center for fixed phone switches.
He referred to inaugurate the national internet management and development center and emphasized:" other projects that will be operated today include: transaction analysis center in the West in Hamedan province, the new postal center in Hamedan province, exploitation of electronic banking software "Symya" in Post Bank and offering the 800th service on iran.ir portal".
