P.R of ICT Ministry – Dr. Mohammad Karam Pour, ICT Ministry’s deputy of Technology and International Affairs and secretary of the 1st ICT Ministerial Summit of ECO member countries said that the meeting of high-ranking officials as committee of compiling drafts for this summit has been finalized Tehran declaration and summit draft successfully and prepare it for presenting to high rank ministers and the heads of the boards. For this aim and after final ratification, with considering the need of improving IP services presentation between ECO member countries, the term of developing and improving optical fiber substructure in the region was emphasized and a possibility project will be implemented in order to find out the necessary substructures of the member countries and reducing international transit traffic cost, he added. Establishing a high rank work group to develop the cooperation between ICT regulators and identify specific ways for improving Mobile phones operators cooperation are some of the other proposals presented in this summit for decision making. Dr. Karam Pour asserted that establishing ECO Association of ICT presenters and posing functional mechanisms for working on regional joint activities in the term of preventing and campaign against crimes via ECO secretariat are such the articles this draft included. Making joint satellite possibility is one of the terms studied in this summit and after final ratification, Iran investigates on this matter with the help of member countries and poses the results in the next ministerial summit, he continued. In order to exploit the most from geographical location of ECO region as the crossway of goods transit and people travelling form east and west, the methods of improving ICT substructures and services across approved railroad and road corridors are identified and ECO secretariat will implement some specific projects on this with cooperation of its member countries and International Road Transportation Union, the secretary of the 1st ministerial summit of ECO said. He emphasized that in this draft, in order to guarantee high level of regional cooperation on research teaching and exchanging technology, the proposals of creating ICT scientific network, ICT virtual university, ICT digital library, joint research projects and exchanging university professors and students between ECO member countries beside learning workshops have been presented. Also the proposal of activating the system of online money transferring via financial postal services between the member countries was emphasized in this draft which its software and standard guideline has been got ready before. Some specific strategies for praparing ICT comprehensive development plan in ECO region have been approved by members and we hope that we can implement it in 2013, Dr. Karam Pour said finally.
